The Stemie Stem Pad

The Stemie is a simple silicone rubber pad designed to take the edge off when your body comes into contact with your stem. When we introduced the Stemie, people were quick to point out the fact that it isn’t likely to save your testicles from injury in the event of a cataclysmic bike wreck. I won’t dispute that claim.

What the Stemie could do, however, is lessen the effects of slamming your knee into the stem during a slow-speed crash on the polo court. Frankly, that’s why I requested one. And because it matches my current neon-green color scheme.

It’s also true that the same feat could be accomplished cheaper. You could duct tape an old washcloth to your stem. Or maybe find a cheap neoprene and Velcro stem pad at WalMart. For what it’s worth, the Stemie probably looks cleaner and weighs less (under 60g) than the alternatives.

MSRP is $19 and it comes in seven color choices. Visit www.stemie.com for more info.
