The Cricket Silent Alarm

While this product does seem a little flawed, I do think it’s a good idea. It’s basically a bluetooth device that notifies your mobile device when someone moves your bike. Unfortunately it seems to have a range of just 150 feet, which isn’t going to cut it for most people. Also, the device seems pretty noticeable and easy to remove. So I’m sure professional bike thieves are well-aware of it, or they will be in a short time. But imagine if it were well disguised as a stem cap or a handlebar plug? And if the range was a quarter mile or so?

The prototype is slated to go into production for a March 2014 release. Retail price is expected to be $39. Click here for more info on The Cricket.

Hi, the limit of 150 feet is due to Bluetooth technology. To improve it they should change technology.
