Sun Strap – Solar Charger

I love the cycling related possibilities of this sun strap solar charger. Not only does it eliminate the need to search for an outlet, hanging out while your device boosts power, but you can also power up and charge while still riding. It probably has sufficient applications in a rural setting, but I imagine using it on centuries, weekend cycle camping trips, and just longer rides in general where you need to stay connected, but would rather keep rolling.

The research group hopes to ship first runs of the strap charger to initial backers by December of this year. Base level backing starts at $55 to pre-order the product. The campaign is over half-way funded with approximately 12 days to go.

Hey fellow riders. Check them out. We backed them on Kickstarter. Still wish it had a bottle opener :(

Yep a nice looking product indeed. Even beyond riding you could just leave it out in the sun and still get juice for a cellphone or ipod if the electricity were out. As of today (Saturday, 8/30/14) they are fully funded.
