  2. AlegiustApril 3, 2012 at 2:18 am

A sort of wristband/bracelet made of velcro to be used as keychain of the padlock so you don’t have to look for the key every time you stop……..on the velcro string you can print your logo or made it reflective in the darkmaterial.

Or a sort of tube cover of the chain designed with a cool pattern + you logo…….

  3. Michael HalliganApril 3, 2012 at 2:19 am

Butterfly handlebars that also have drops

  4. Michael HalliganApril 3, 2012 at 2:19 am

And how about some really secure locking system to lock a brookes saddle down?

  5. RyanApril 3, 2012 at 7:00 am

I like the top tube cover idea. It would be cool if you could have Urban Velo reflective on it. Like a white on white which makes the words shiny.

  6. RyanApril 3, 2012 at 7:05 am

One more idea…I liked the bottle opener article. May be a cheaper version of the saddle opener. Great idea but 40 bones is a little pricey.

  7. AlegiustApril 3, 2012 at 8:00 am

yes Ryan REFLECTIVE tube cover for chian so it will be substitute a reflective jacket or cross stripes……..

  8. BenzoApril 3, 2012 at 8:04 am

A new run of cycling caps, I’m in to the top tube pad idea, maybe some XL beer coozies for big 24oz beers.

  9. TomApril 3, 2012 at 8:08 am

Do a special issue compiling all the I Love Riding in the City entries, and nothing else. Maybe the first hundred, something like that.Call it Volume I.

  10. Scott SpitzApril 3, 2012 at 8:27 am

Whatever we do…we’ll put a bottle opener on it!

  11. drinkslingerApril 3, 2012 at 9:08 am

big beer coozies, tool roll, embroidered patches, cycling caps, punk rock style screened patches, special issue like Tom said.

  12. Skid MarksApril 3, 2012 at 9:51 am

Reflective postcard to put into my spokes

  13. sumadisApril 3, 2012 at 10:30 am

packable lightweight rain shell with bottle opener zip pull.
limited run matte-finish Oakley blades with bottle opener ear sock.
bespoke kangaroo hide spd compatible espadrilles with bottle opener heel tab.
bottle opener tire iron! in carbon!!
anodized soft alloy chain whip with retractable sword.
limited edition hemp fiber urban velo foot retention system with bottle opener.
titanium polo mallet with cork pull, bottle opener and retractable sword.

  14. TallacApril 3, 2012 at 10:34 am

Urban Velo tires with a reversed text so when you run over mud or water (or paint) it leaves the Urban Velo logo and some smart saying after the logo on the pavement.

  15. BenzoApril 3, 2012 at 11:05 am

I also remember they gave out bandanna’s at the midwest open polo tournament in lexington once that were custom printed. That sounds like a decent merch idea.

In the 90′s The bmx company standard or S&M had a product called a deuce which basically is a hose with two fittings designed to “borrow” air from car tires.

It worked brilliantly and a updated presta valve version is long overdue.

Also add a bottle opener to it.

Wool jerseys that make me look/ride like Eddie Merck?

but seriously, some urban bike gear. I have started to take a fancy to the riding pants (no spandex, but like kakis or jeans) that go down just past knee. Longer than shorts but storter than normal britches.
And as mentioned by someone earlier. I mini tool roll, with a canvas or cloth roll, not plastic.

  18. scottApril 3, 2012 at 1:39 pm

    Cycling cap.

    ulock holder.

old school bicycle licence plate to hang off the saddle.

  19. ThomApril 3, 2012 at 2:07 pm

I am always looking for a new track jacket. American Apparel makes a sweet thin cotton product.

  20. Ruben GooglesteinApril 3, 2012 at 3:09 pm

Neck gaitor that looks like a volcano.

    rain SPATZ!

  21. EricApril 3, 2012 at 3:13 pm

I like the idea of patches, cycling caps, even a lithograph would be cool.

  22. flattyApril 3, 2012 at 6:29 pm

Team up w/ one of your sponsors for an Urban Velo smartphone pouch. Put a patch on it.

  23. vinniekowalskiApril 3, 2012 at 10:33 pm

how about 3/4 length pants now that the weather’s getting warmer? not sure where you’d put the bottle opener, though…

  24. cjApril 4, 2012 at 12:33 am

+1 for the big beer koozies! always wishing there was one i had for all the arizona iced teas i drink

  25. ScottApril 4, 2012 at 5:38 pm

Good quality cycling cap… maybe even a cold weather version (ear cover)

I second the track jacket suggestion…. good quality zipper, reflective trim, fabric with a nice hand.

  26. dontcoastApril 5, 2012 at 1:26 am

Merino Tee with in simple grey with the urban velo skyline logo at the bottom just like the old shirts
BUT with the bike on the side, not the middle

Customizable skyline hats? “upload you own skyline”? That would be sweeeet.

I love riding in the city! and towns, and countryside…

  27. megoApril 5, 2012 at 8:18 am

    We can design something! http://www.deadlynightshades.ca
Maybe a YNOT strap collabo? http://www.ynotcycle.com

  28. JeffroApril 5, 2012 at 2:58 pm

    Peanut butter wrench.

  29. NickApril 5, 2012 at 7:31 pm

How about a hoodie with jersey pockets on the back.

  30. mikeApril 6, 2012 at 9:24 am

Socks or gloves would be cool. Maybe arm warmers for those of us who live colder areas. A seat bag would be awesome too.

  31. TerryApril 6, 2012 at 8:10 pm

    1. Urban Velo playing cards with clothespin included.

    2. A bunny. Yep, a bunny–with big floppy ears and a white fuzzy tail. No, I have no idea how this fits in with your magazine, but it is almost Easter and we need more cute, cuddly stuff in the world. Multicolored chicks would be cool tool (chicks as in baby chickens). And maybe ducks. Or at the very least an Easter egg hunt.

    3. Your magazine was always good. I think it became better when you added product reviews. How about expanding to other types of bikes, such as “rat” bikes which are basically cruisers usually built out of old stuff like 1950′s heavy steel bikes. Of course, that strays from your focus, but I’m pretty unfocused. But mainly, just make an excuse to make your magazine bigger–or be published more often; whatever works to accomplish that, do that.

By the way, congratulations on your five years of publication. You have an entertaining to read magazine and the most interesting advertisements in the business.

Subliminal message: more issues per year…more issues per year…more issues per year…repeat
