FOOTbrake foldable flip flops.

Just yesterday I posted on Facebook the value of always carrying flip flops, specifically for those times when you are done riding and want something to walk in besides clipless shoes, whether road, mountain or commuter. Sometimes slipping on some flip flops is the greatest feeling in the world.

So funny THIS should end up in my mailbox. FOOTbrake is a new product developed by two ladies from Ohio who enjoy walking around their destination points as much as riding to them. They wanted something more comfortable than clipless (“clip-ons” they call them) shoes and so created foldable flip flops that compare to the size of your cell phone allowing for easy storage in a pannier or jersey pocket.

It sounds a little informercial weird, but I’m struggling to come up with any great criticism. Unfortunately, I can’t actually tell how they work from the site and just how durable they may or may not be. Attendees at Interbike will get a chance to have a closer look this month and maybe we’ll get a more involved report back. For now, you can purchase them here for $24.95.

A pair of rubber flip flops with a rubber band wrapped around them fits in the jersey pocket just as well.
