Cyclist Hit By Car

We know this happens every day, the impatient driver BLATANTLY hitting a cyclist with their vehicle, but I still can’t get used to the visuals when I see it happen. I post this as a reminder. It’s all too easy to get comfortable riding in traffic, not expecting drivers to do the insane. Consider this a PSA.

Police tell cyclists to use the whole lane but some really sick drivers go out of their way to drive as close as possible or drive into cyclists and pedestrians on purpose which is attempted murder! If I ever saw a driver do this to another cyclist while I’m driving I would drive over the driver and call it an accident. Fair is fair. Let’s get rid of the psychos so we can all be safe.
If going fast is worth killing someone how much can that drivers life be worth?

This is so scary! The arrogance of drivers up close and personal. Footage like this makes me feel justified carrying a weapon while cycling and moreover entitled to use said weapon against insane motorists. Drastic measures for violent circumstances.

The driver in the video in the OP was convicted the following week. She received a 3 month driving licence suspension and a $600 fine.

It still amazes me what little regard some drivers have for another human being’s life. This driver should be required to ride a bike during their 3 month suspension (which is a joke)

The mentality of motorists really does scare me. This article is an eye opening example: http://road.cc/content/news/111362-suspended-sentence-lorry-driver-who-killed-cyclist-and-claimed-he-was-unable

Cycling Scotland’s planned advert of “See cyclist, think horse” is the sort of reprogramming that motorists need. But it was banned because one of the cyclists in the add was shown not wearing a helmet.
