"Lord of The Elk"? You must be spending too much time in the woods.

"DOT chooses to cut the funds to providing bike lanes instead the extra hour public schools are in session so that they can provide pointless classes like P.E. for example"

Since WHEN does the Department of TRANSPORTATION have any control over the education budget?

Considering the risks we all run competing for space with speeding cars, I can't consider bikeways luxuries by any stretch.

Arizona spent itself into a ridiculous hole during the late bogus boom, but I see today Phoenix is planning to add a connector link in its bikeway system. The cost of doing this is trifling.

ADOT gets my input when I have the opportunity, and they probably reckon there are thousands others for every one who speaks up. Another good way to be counted is just get out and ride - they do keep track of usage.

Outrageous as this may seem, you can't really blame the the state DOT for having to make these cuts. Its the higher ups who have really fudged up our whole economy with their retarded spending and creating billions of dollars out of nothing. Now that everything is decline because of this the DOT's have not choice but to stop spending money on what is not so necessary.

Don't think that I don't appreciate the glorious benefits having bike lanes and trails. I am an avid rider and have had my fare share of being pushed around and hit by the giant metal beasts that dominate our roadways; I would have been most overjoyed to have had bike lanes to ride the 8 miles between my house and school every day. But honestly, I consider these things such as "sidewalks, bike lanes, trails" luxuries that many people are able to do without.

What we should be getting angry about and fighting is when the DOT chooses to cut the funds to providing bike lanes instead the extra hour public schools are in session so that they can provide pointless classes like P.E. for example. Honestly, why should it be the governments responsibility to make sure young people with light-speed metabolisms get exercise?

So before telling the DOT to not cut the things we bikers so love, find the things they are choosing not to cut that deserve so much to be.
