Philadelphia hosted the inaugural World Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships this past weekend, September 5th and 6th ’09, attracting some 48 teams from across North America and Europe. Two days of intense polo play ended late Sunday with a new champion hailing from Seattle crowned in the Cascadia-only final game. East Vancouver took second, with teams from NYC and Milwaukee rounding out the top four. This was the first chance that many players had to see the different styles from Europe and across the continent, surely raising the bar on everyone’s game as people travel home and prepare for the next time.
