Why Bike
Here’s a nice little short film shot by a student videographer for a video contest at the University of Arkansas called “Why Bike”. The video won first place. Let me beat you all to it though…”No helmet!”. Some of the claims are a little suspect (300 miles and 43 pounds lighter?), but it’s a decent little motivator regardless. Eat well, Ride long.

helmets are not necessary, look at countries with larger biking communities and numbers like germany and holland; no helmets, no problems

The most dangerous thing I saw in that vid was dropping the inside foot through the turn…

What’s missing from the numbers is a time period. If he’s doing 300 mi./mo. (month) that’s about an hour of biking per day. If it’s per week then it’s three to four (3 – 4) hours per day which is doable. Either way it adds up fairly quickly to a healthier body.
P.S. Years ago, I used to make thirty to forty (30 – 40) mile roundtrips on Saturdays to visit libraries with different selections. The scenery was a plus – bridge w/ ocean views, killer hills, etc.
