I have worked at a Trek shop for the past 5 years and although I don’t ride a Trek, they do make pretty awesome bikes. There is a lot of, what I call, “Treknology” crammed into their high-end bikes that trickles down to the mid-level bikes. Some pretty impressive work and you can’t beat that lifetime frame warranty as well as the 1 year warranty on parts. We have had very good luck with Trek’s customer service and if they made more high-end steel framesets more of my bikes would be Treks.

there was a show on discovery channel i forget exactly what it was called but it was a cross between how its made and modern marvels and it was on trek bicycles. pretty cool to see their manufacturing processes in such detail. the show claimed one of their mountain bikes is the worlds strongest frame. also theres no proof lance cheated if i stand corrected he only ever failed one drug test and it was most likely for using a topical cream. not saying he didnt cheat but can you really say for sure that he did?

Good bikes is the point. I still have a classic ’80s 600, and I’m currently bombing around the backwoods on an 820 kitted for camping. Or is that bumming…

yes but what professional cyclist wasnt doping at the time? does that mean specialized, giant, pinarello, cervelo and every other major brand got their reputations from doping? yup…. go ride your bike.

Nice, but…should we include in Trek’s history their support (and profiting from) a notorious cyclsit who cheated his way to 7 Tour de France wins? That relationship went a loooong way towards making the Trek brand what it is today.
