The Bike Petal Rack
Bike parking needs are growing, with rack manufacturers stepping up with any number of designs. The Bike Petal rack is a modular, standing rack for permanent installations. Bikes are stored semi-vertically, rolled up the ramps and the rear wheel is cradled at the bottom to hold it in place. The rack as shown fits in a 10 ft x 10 ft space, and stores 8 bikes at least partially covered from the elements. It can be broken up to fit flat against a wall or on an outside corner, and can hold solar panels to power a bike-share paystation. I could see this rack as part of a display piece or incorporated into a bike-share install, but as a public use rack it may not be the easiest to use given the wide variety of bike setups out there, and I can’t see how I would lock up my bike wihout changing to a large chain or inferior cable lock. Interesting design for a more standardized industrial application however. See more at www.thebikepetal.com

If they enlarge the side loop you could attach a ulock to your back wheet and through your chainstay. Hopefully they’ll work the kinks out before the sell too many.

Thanks for your comments…we expanded the loop and The Bike Petal will handle any u loop lock around the frame and the rear tire.
