The Bike Petal Rack

Bike parking needs are growing, with rack manufacturers stepping up with any number of designs. The Bike Petal rack is a modular, standing rack for permanent installations. Bikes are stored semi-vertically, rolled up the ramps and the rear wheel is cradled at the bottom to hold it in place. The rack as shown fits in a 10 ft x 10 ft space, and stores 8 bikes at least partially covered from the elements. It can be broken up to fit flat against a wall or on an outside corner, and can hold solar panels to power a bike-share paystation. I could see this rack as part of a display piece or incorporated into a bike-share install, but as a public use rack it may not be the easiest to use given the wide variety of bike setups out there, and I can’t see how I would lock up my bike wihout changing to a large chain or inferior cable lock.
