Tall Touring

Tod Seelie of Sucka Pants blog has been on a tour from Brooklyn to Minneapolis and I’ve been anticipating the photo dump. It wasn’t just any old bike tour, no sir. He did the trip on a tall bike outfitted with panniers and what looks to be a frame rack beneath the drive train. I wish I could get a better look at the quality of the builds, but I can only assume the drive train is of touring quality. The Sucka Pants blog showcases a couple photos from each day of the tour and the whole flickr set can be found here.

Brad adds: Actually, here are some more detailed pictures of the tall bike construction. Greg is a friend of mine that builds and tours on tall bikes, and a few months ago I happened to run into him in Brooklyn at Jonny Coast’s shop where he was working on these very tall bikes for this Minneapolis bound tour mentioned above. The white Giant tall bike shown was a prototype build, with a pair of tubesets inside the door that became the finished bikes for this tour.

Did a tall bike mini-tour around Wisconsin in 2008. Super rewarding sometimes, completely god awful others, especially on a bike cobbled together the week before with little to no experience. Deffinatly not the sort of rig these folks were running. Check out some photos and stuff here. http://bikeec.blogspot.com/2008/06/two-wheels-pt1.html
