Taipai Bike Show Check In

timjacksonmitsueOur very lucky pal Tim “The Masi Guy” Jackson is in Taiwan for the Taipai International Cycle Show. To the left he’s shown with Mitsue, who is the spokesmodel for Masi in Taiwan. He’s got more photos on his Facebook page, and a report on his blog.

masi_mini_veloOne of the products Masi is very proud to be featuring at the trade show is their line of mini-velo bikes. Particularly popular in congested Asian cities, Masi feels they can grab a fair share of attention in the US with proper marketing.

  • Holy Mary, mother of you know who! If the other manufacturers have similar models then Taiwan is obviously the place to be. Bravo, Sir!

  • Thanks for the mention, my friend!

The Mini-Velo bike has lots of potential in the US and other areas. We developed the bikes in tandem with our distributor for Japan and then also with the Taiwan distributor. Thing is, they were only intended for the Asian markets- since that is where they are most popular. However, I had more than one non-Asian distributor ask about the bikes for their home markets as well. They may look like hokey, gimmicky bikes, but they are actually very functional and fun to ride.

Do not be surprised if they pop up in North America… I’m just saying.

And no, my job does NOT suck!

  • `Ah, so sick – mini road bikes. For short runs around the hood or a congested urban area these would be ideal. The “Mini Cooper” of bikes. Would fit in a car easily too. I could see myself on one. Bring ‘em on, no one in the states has anything like it. They look nicer than that folding stuff. I’d really like to see one.
