Good move to offer this as a stock option! And people can always pony up for drop bars and tektro v-brake levers if they want, without having to sell a groupset.

Never understood why the Steamroller has wide tire clearance... but no fender braze-ons.

I think it's a great option, but why does every company have to follow the exact same trends? For ages you could only get a fixed with pista bars; now only with sweep or riser bars: 'Illusion of choice'.

For me it's still the All City Nature Boy: drops, huge tire clearance, cantis, bottle and fender mounts. Steel de rigeur.

Same here w/my Cross Check, altho I've only had mine for a measly 9 years...meant to use it as a geared commuter but set it up as a singlespeed just to get it rolling, switched briefly to gears, then just as quickly converted it back to ss. Have had moustache bars, drop bars, Clarence bars, etc...settled on Salsa Moto Ace and haven't fiddled with 'em since. I've had (and eventually passed on) an Instigator, 1x1, Karate Monkey, but the Cross Check is forever. Cheers!
