SmartBike DC

Washington DC bike blogger Gwadzilla reports that he’s seen SmartBikes on the streets of DC. The program has proven successful in France, Norway, Sweden and Spain. The United States is next on the list, and Italy is scheduled to follow.

SmartBike DC is sponsored by Clear Channel Outdoor, who will take advantage of the advertising opportunities created by the program.

I just got back from several days in Paris and the “velib” program, as they call it there, is incredible. We rode them constantly, as do, it seems, most of the parisians. The stations are so plentiful you don’t even have to know where the exact location of the one on the other side will be — you konw one will be near. It has completely transformed how one experiences Paris.
