Legendary bike designer Sky Yeager is back at it with her latest creations, the newly coined Shinola brand out of Detroit. Pictured is the $2500 Bixby, a made in the USA frameset (Waterford, the old Schwinn Paramount factory) spec’d with dual disc brakes and a 3-speed internally geared hub for no-nonsense and minimal maintenance everday commuting. Sure, for many $2500 is a ton of cash to spend on a commuter but given what car insurance and maintenance costs are on a yearly basis such a daily rider looks that much more reasonable. Each frame features internal cable routing, custom cut dropouts, a Shinola custom chainguard and a Pacenti box crown fork, giving a clean, classic and finished look to the bike that is overlooked by many designers slapping stock forks and dropouts on otherwise high-end custom designs. Available in men’s or women’s versions, see www.shinola.com for more.
