RIDEYE Bicycle Black Box Camera
There is a growing interest in video documentation of rides for insurance, liability and post-crash traffic law enforcement. Locally I know of a few cases of drivers being visited by the police over video evidence of their creative driving around cyclists, with many other cases around the country. Perhaps it’s a response to the all-seeing eye Russian dashcam videos that everyone is raving about, but more and more riders are looking for just the same. The RIDEYE is a simple and durable camera that continuously records riding video, saving an hour of it at all times. It features a 120º wide angle lens and 1280 x 720 video resolution, with a single button turning the camera on/off and automatically saving the past hour of riding. THe RIDEYE also features an accelerometer to detect crashes — exceed the crash threshold and the RIDEYE archives the video event to prevent it from being overwritten. Expected to retail for $150, you can score one for a few dollars less as an early RIDEYE Kickstarter adopter.
