Reynolds Factory Visit
Check out this write-up of Rapha’s factory visit to the Reynolds tubing company. There is almost an exaggerated, magical mystique placed upon the quality and value of Reynolds tubing when purists speak of them as if they are handcrafted by a small group of men with burly, worn, oil-stained hands. Turns out, that’s EXACTLY how Reynolds tubing is crafted. Rapha documents some of the smaller details of the company, from their beginnings to the employees that came out of retirement to continue shoving and shaping metal into the tubes we ride on today. After reading this, I now have a deeper appreciation for the materials and craftsmanship that went into the bike I ride on today, knowing actual people are a direct part of the process instead of my bike being composed of materials spit out by some automated behemoth.
