Red Bull Minidrome

Posted on by in Video with 14 Comments

Red Bull Minidrome from Radar Films on Vimeo.

Like many of the most thrilling things in life, this looks dangerous. Especially the unplugged bars and giant protruding axles you can catch a glimpse of here and there. But with a mini velodrome-like wood track installed in such a tight place no one had safety first on the list. Awesome video, I would ride this.

    Amusing? Yes, Totally. but did Legal actually APPROVE this?? Didn’t the Supreme Court a century ago rule that no matter how stupid you are & what waivers you sign, you cannot indemnify something inherently and completely dangerous??? Make this portable velodrome twice as big & taller & smoother & maybe it might pass.. Hell, they make portable half-pipes that are safe. And skateboard demo ramps. I have a friend that could make a good, safe one. Red Bull is clever but screwed this up. Fun video and sales doesnt make up for f(*&ing people and bikes up.

    Hahaha….People were getting slung out of the turns right off the track! I, too, would totally ride this. I’d be leaning those turns like a mo’fo’. Only way to keep from catapulting out.

    I didn’t even see a single pair of drop bars. This makes me sad.

    @wv cycling
    after much experimentation, we found risers were most effective at keeping balance and staying inside the track. what’s the point in drops if you re only going 15km/h???

    Kinda like those mini-ramps skateboarders put in their basements

    Am I the only one that thinks this doesn’t even look like fun?

    why does everyone look so serious, like they’re competing in the Olympics or something? If we did something like this in our town it would just be a bunch of drunken buffoons on BMX bikes falling all over the place, having a good time. Some of these hipsters look like their reputations are at stake.

    Well I think the concept is cool. I agree it should be bigger with steeper corners, and I will check into the possibility of having one made.
