a friend of mine entered a writing contest for red bicyclette wine. she didn't win but the winner got a free stay in france and a little red bike to explore the country side on... pretty cool.

I'm a big fan of South American wines, and another vineyard that features bicycles prominently on their labels is Cono Sur:
http://www.conosur.com/en/
Not as cute and "artsy" of a label, but as a rule of thumb I tend to shy away from wines with labels or names that are too flashy or too clever... and that's just based on years of experience.

Like the Red Bicyclette wines, these all seem to be in the $10 < $15 range, which is the only range I'll pay for wine.

I would have a lot more respect for a French wine that was called Bicyclette Rouge--I think the French would, too. But with Americans, I guess the only foreign words you can use are those with English cognates. Velo Rouge would be straight out.
