Problem Solvers Shifter Boss Covers

problem_solvers_shifter_boss Problem Solvers is one of those brands more familiar to shop employees than consumers, their small parts that solve niche problems just aren’t things most consumers get excited about. Cable doublers, extra long brake nuts, adapter parts… and now these $18 shifter boss covers (with bolts). Simple stainless caps that fit over the downtube shifter bosses on most older road bikes, these covers both protect them from the elements and round off their sharp corners when not in use. These are great for finishing off that singlespeed conversion, and something that up until now has not been commonly available, if even in production at all. I’ve never seen a shifter boss cap before, but by August just about every shop in the country will be able to stock them.

  • just in time… i need a set of those!

  • oh wait… i need the ones to adapt to non-downtube shifting.

  • problem solvers is the greatest. they have so many products that you just wouldn’t think you’d need till you need em. headset conversion cups, for instance — they allow you to run a 1-1/8″ headset/fork on a 1-1/4″ headtube or a 1″ headset/fork on a 1-1/8″ headtube.

my best experience with problem solvers was when i had a stripped derailleur hanger on one of my multi-geared bikes and found that they have a little nut thing that fixes that.

AWESOME company and ANOTHER awesome product.

  • they make a mean brake cable “noodle” also

  • Whoa, talk about great timing! I’m building a randonnuering frame for a friend with internal hub and the new Verso Road Shifters for Shimano internal hubs. I wanted to do downtube shifter bosses but won’t need the front derailluer one for the current setup (I want to leave the option for switching to traditional drive systems in the future.) This helps me avoid an potential ugly spot on an otherwise nice looking bike. Great idea!
