The Planet Bike Spok headlight and taillight are an exercise in minimalism. Easily mounted to a variety of surfaces with a simple hook and loop fastening system, the single LED light is powered by a small (yet commonly available) CR2032 battery. The lights use just a tiny bit of electricity, so one battery should last about 100 hours of cycling time.
The Spok lights make a great secondary or backup light system. They’re small enough to throw in your backpack and forget about until your main light runs out of juice. Or hook em’ to your seatpost and you’ll never leave home worrying if your AAA battery powered blinky light will crap out. On the other hand, you don’t want to count on the Spok headlight as your main light—it’s just not bright enough. You can get a good idea of how the Spok compares to other Planet Bike lights on their light finder page.
Individual Spok lights retail for $13 to $15, or $20 to $25 for the set. Visit www.planetbike.com for more info.

i used these for a little bit like the old “hub cleaner” reflectors. they were attached to the hub and would simply hang there as you ride. it was kinda cool cause it lit up the spokes and rims for higher visibility from the side, which was nice. and my hubs got sparkly clean. i didn’t like how it would clang on occasion, and i just can’t get into lights that use odd/expensive batteries that i can’t recharge. i gave them to a friend to use on his kid carrier for some added visibility.
Hmm… Rechargable CR2032′s would be a nice thing. They’re the same batteries used in a lot of things, not just bike lights and cycle computers.
I put one through the wash/dry last night by accident. WORKS GREAT!
