Most wooden fenders look great but provide lousy coverage since they have a flat profile—not these new laminated bamboo fenders from Planet Bike. These are some of the first curved profile full coverage wood fenders to hit the market, keeping you as dry as any other fender option out there but with the unique class that only a wooden form can bring. Expect to pay somewhere between $80-$100 for these once the production version is available.

extremely sexy. can’t wait for these
Wait… these actually have some curve to them? That’s nice, because flat fenders suck.
Now, if someone else can do the same without having them imported from China, that would be great.
I love these. The natural bamboo is nice; a deep brown carbonized bamboo would also be a very nice alternative. Please let us know when these become available.
Wonder if you couldn’t darken them with amber shellac the way you would with cotton bar tape?
Any news or update on the sale date?
I heard not until Spring 2010 at the earliest, from Planet Bike.
Just spoke with someone @ Planet Bike and they said it looks like a May availability now. They’ll come in a 700×45, and will cost about $120 retail.
They aren’t bamboo, but I make them out of reclaimed wood from home tear downs, barns etc…give them a look, Chris at Planet Bike is sporting a pair on his Dumb Pug.
