This past Saturday, three Pittsburgh police officers lost their lives in the line of duty. You can read about it in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The Pittsburgh Major Taylor Cycling Club, along with the Western Pennsylvania Wheelmen will hold a tribute ride for the slain police officers on Saturday, April 11th 2009. The ride will begin at the Highland Park fountain at 10am and proceed to the Zone 5 Police Station for a short memorial service, then return to the park. Riders are encouraged to place a black ribbon on their bikes or arms and make a five dollar donation to the victim’s families during the Zone 5 rest stop.
If you cannot make it to the event, but would like to donate to the families of the deceased officers, you can do so through the Fraternal Order of Police website.
