Paragon Machine Works was founded in 1983 by Mark Norstad, a good guy from California who loves bikes and machining. His bottom brackets, dropouts and braze-ons are found on many of the finest handmade bicycles in the world. In addition to manufacturing some of the best framebuilding components around, he also produces some mighty fine bottle openers for folks like you and me.
I first met Mark in 2001 at the Interbike trade show. We had some beers at the fabled Vagabond hotel pool and he gave me a titanium bottle opener that’s still on my keychain to this day. When I ran into Mark at this year’s NAHBS, he slid me an aluminum bottle opener with the words, “Amazing Healing Power of Beer.” I guess he thought I looked a little run down, so I took his gesture to heart and found myself a frosty beverage. The bottle opener worked, and life was good.
