Jonathan Maus of The http://www.bikeportland.org/ blog has been keeping us out in Oregon up to date on what is happening with this bill. It seem now it has now turned from a “law” to a “study” on this matter.

Carrying a kid in those things, at head level to a car, is not too far from child abuse. Those idiotic, unsafe things should be banned. But then you all carry guns over there anyway, so I’m not surprised. Pro choice for guns, anti choice for abortion etc.

in Europe whole COUNTRIES ride bicycles to work every day, sharing the road with cars, carrying children with them and, guess what? They don’t wear helmets. They’ve been doing this safely for decades. Before you put unflattering labels on these people and bring guns [wtf, btw?] into the equation, learn a thing or two, from, say, the Dutch.

I’m thinking Tom isn’t from the U.S. ? I mean, if he thinks that most people in Portland are gun-toting cyclists, I think he is making an assumption about our entire country, which is massive and has a population of 300 million.

Tom, you need to come to the midwest (where I live), where you will indeed find an abundance of gun owning cyclists. And guess what, we’re still less dangerous than any automobile on the road.
