For the first time in history, the Olympics will feature BMX racing. And it airs on prime-time television in just under a half hour. For millions of cyclists, their first “real” bike was a BMX, and even though many of us never set foot on a bona-fide BMX track, the excitement is still shared by nearly everyone on two wheels.
And regardless of your stance on the Olympics, and no matter who wins the gold, the entire cycling community benefits because a whole new generation of kids will be inspired to ride. Check out www.bmxmania.com for coverage and loads of photos.

Olympic BMX Racing Starts… tomorrow? damn rain! I can only hope it continues to rain and the inaugural olympic bmx event is forced to run the track carrying their bikes to finish. yes, this actually happens (however rarely) on the national level. oh, how i miss those days.
