Obama Loves Riding in the City

According to a post on www.nicomachus.net, presidential hopeful Barack Obama took a break from the campaign trail to ride bicycles with his family and neighbors. The Illinois senator rode from his home in Chicago to the shores of Lake Michigan, but sadly their ride was cut short by foul weather.

And in related news, SRAM’s F.K. Day is hosting an Obama fundraiser at his Chicago home. An anticipated 100 bicycle industry magnates will pay $2,300 to attend the function. Although the upcoming election will focus on political issues such as foreign policy and the economy, Day is quoted as saying, “It’s really an opportunity to talk about bikes with Barack.”

    Go Obama!

Look at where his shoes contact the pedals…..

And the rear tire looks a little low on air. But hey, there’s still something more authentic about this bike ride than W.’s mountain biking photo ops.

Why are all the photos of Obama riding his bicycle — with his daughter riding tandem — cropping-out his daughter and the tandem attachment?

Crappy chinese built hybrid with maladjusted seat salmoning up the wrong direction on the side walk = lost my vote.

Obama probably doesn’t nerd out about bikes like you guys, thats why his seats low and feet contact the pedals in the middle of his foot and his tire is flat. because he wants to have fun with his daughter, not be judged as cool by bike nerds.

that bike is way to small for him. totally nerdin it up in this one.

So he can’t even ride a bike correctly, but he wants to run the country. Of course, I guess, our current president can ride a bike, but look where that got us. Hmmmm, maybe riding a bike and running a country aren’t related. Maybe…

he should appoint bikesnobNYC as velo czar.

apocalypse, I don’t think salmoning means what you think it does. voting intelligently doesn’t appear to mean what you think it does either, so that’s not terribly surprising.

I have heard that he is a cyclist, although this picture depicts someone who is very new to cycling.
