Hi Alan, about battery replacement ...

I recently bought one, and yes it's possible for user to replace the battery. I opened mine up out of curiosity and popped the battery out, the only tool required is the supplied allen key. They use a lithium 18650 cell that's the standard building block for laptop batteries, larger power packs and even some electic cars. It's about 30% longer and wider than a AA. You can buy them online FOR AROUND $13 (google 18650 lithium)

However the user is not expected to nor should need to change them. The battery can reasonable expected to have a minimum of 500 charge cycles = 1500 hours of full beam night commuting. That's 10 years in my world.

Cheers, Alistair

P.S. Many lithiums had problems a few years ago because the rechargers were not sufficiently sophisticated. The recharge cycle is well understood now, and the recharger is built into the light so you can't really screw it up.

I'm very happy with the light believe that it's a viable dynamo alternative for regular commuters.
