On a quick trip through Nashville to visit friends I managed to stop by the Nashville Bicycle Lounge, owned and operated by an old mountain bike race scene friend Dan Hensley. It’s a relatively small place, tucked into a space under a skate shop in East Nashville, just a couple of miles from downtown. The after hours visit and conversation was helped along by some fine Tennessee White Whiskey, and quickly led to rifling through boxes of old esoteric Ringle and Grafton mountain bike parts, bringing back memories of 3D purple ano and lusting after such parts at a time when I was in high school and couldn’t imagine being able to afford them. Aside from a few boxes of old shop buy out stuff, the shop otherwise is a service oriented place, keeping your bike rolling no matter the vintage or where you first purchased it. There’s even a free customer repair stand for people comfortable turning their own wrenches on small repairs and adjustments. New and custom spec’d bikes are also available, with a certain eye for the practical rather than the mass market. Click through for a few more images from the shop after the jump.

Hahaha . . . That fancy mug with the embellished “T” on it is mine
. Dan is a very awesome person who goes above and beyond to serve those who embrace cycling as a way of life (or a way of getting off of your butt). When you walk into the store, his main concern is fitting you with the bike that suits your purposes, rather than the bike that he just needs to get off of the floor. The bicycle lounge is about promoting a lifestyle rather than moving the latest high-tech piece of plastic. If you are a cyclist who is planning to visit Nashville, a trip to the bicycle lounge will be well worth your time.
