What Jeremy (the guy who cracked the Merckx SN code) and I discussed further is that the Il Vecchio Merckx was most likely "the" bike from Eddy's private collection and that bike from the Brussels train station is one of the bikes from the previous day's attempt. All of these frames were most likely re-decaled at one point or another, but Colnago also claims to have one of the bikes (I think they made like 6). Bottom line, only the real bike was kept in its original condition with the exact components.

But what does Tam have then? NO ONE KNOWS! haha.

It's a quagmire!

@Randall, Prolly talks about that very bike in his article -- and there is sufficient doubt that it is "the one".

It's a good article...nice to see the various claims distilled into one source. I like that there is no resolution, too -- keeping the mystery alive!

According to Wikipedia, it's in a metro station in Brussels. The station is named after Eddy Merckx.
