NAME: Tuomo Kuivamaki
LOCATION: Helsinki, Finland
OCCUPATION: Cargo bike messenger
Where do you live and what’s it like riding in your city?
Riding conditions vary wildly depending on the season in Helsinki. From below freezing with heavy snow in the winter to a heat wave in peak summer.
What was your favorite city to ride in, and why?
Copenhagen, Denmark. Nice bike lanes, good planning. Probably the most bike friendly city on the planet.
Why do you love riding in the city?
I like how my days are a mixture of routine with an element of surprise―everyday there is something new and unexpected.

Interesting. I spent a few days in Helsinki a while ago and loved it! I did not have a chance to ride while I was there, though.
We profiled Tuomo last year on our site:

Seems like a hell of a nice guy — and those Bullitt cargobikes are badass!
Helsinki is awesome. On my 10 km commute from the edge of the city to the campus in the very centre I had to cross a bit of forest, a well-constructed bike path along the train tracks and some traffic as well. I loved Finland and the Finns soooo much, a pity I didn’t cycle more when I was there.
By the way, I don’t remember seeing cargo bikes like in this pic, but I do remember seeing a messenger guy regularly with a cargo bike that had 2 smaller boxes/baskets – one in the front, another in the back.
