Roxy Erickson is the photographer who shot the cover of Urban Velo #16. Originally from Madison, WI, Roxy lives and works in London. Already an established professional with clients such as Island, Loaded, The Guardian and Brooks, she’s recently started a new venture called Bicycle Images.
When she’s not behind the lens, Roxy can often be found on the polo court. She’s been playing hardcourt bike polo for almost four years, and has been a member of the London League since its inception. She says her team, Black Rebel Bike Polo Club, are the best dressed team in London (in large part because they’re sponsored by Chunk Clothing). Never content to just take part in things, Roxy was the director of the first ever European Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships in 2009.
Roxy’s favorite drink is a Tatanka, which is made with Zubrowka Vodka, apple juice, soda water, and a squeeze of lime. Roxy explains, “My father started drinking them in Russia and then a local bar here started making them. Fab.”
She says her favorite bike is the first one that was bought for her, which she describes as, “A red Holdsworth, with gorgeous wrap-around seat stays and it was tiny and perfect.” She goes on to say, “My 80′s Cougar is pretty awesome though! It’s a bit more flash than I intended but hey, it’s a great ride.”

She is certainly most adorable, and she rides ( sigh )
Ya, but can she cook?
Roxy Rocks!
First of all Zubrowka (and Tatanka drink as well… aka Szarlotka – apple pie) are polish not russian, and second this is a proper link: http://www.zubrowka.com (not some US made fake). End of lecture
Anyway, best wishes from polish riders
Damn US-made fakes!
I think it may be possible that that someone smuggled some Zubrowka into Russia. I’m just saying…
Na zdrowie!
“Zubrowka Vodka, apple juice, soda water, and a squeeze of lime”
I am a great fan of soda water, I even tend to mix it with lime &/or apple juice, but putting it in a Tatanka? haven’t seen that in any Polish bar.
oh, and about US-made fakes: don’t know what US-made Żubrówka tastes like. i hope it’s not as “good” as Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser (compared to any beer from České Budějovice).
Dear Roxy,
We would love for you to donate one of your music picture photographs for inclusion in our exhibition which will be held at THE STRAND GALLERY, March 2012 entitled SHE BOP A LULA. A visual celebration of female music icons photographed by women photographers. The premise behind the exhibition is the influence of women musicians on the world and the energy and emotion that women bring to this art.
The exhibition will be supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity, where we intend to raise as much money as possible for the cause. We are in discussion with potential sponsors for this event and hope to make it a high profile media event with 100% of money raised going to this worthy cause.
I will be curating this exhibition with Dede Millar, who managed Redferns Music Pictures for over 20 years until they sold to Getty Images and Julie Grahame who was co-owner of Retna Picture Agency and managed the USA office.
Please let me know if you are interested in this venture and if so, then I can tell you more about the practical information and meet up with you to discuss any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your help with this and I look forward to hearing back from you as soon as possible either way.
Kind regards, Erica Echenberg (07903405666) (erica2@mac.com)
