Wax paper is used for baking, go to any grocery store or even corner store.
Use an iron that allows you to control the steam as you want a dry setting for polyesters (AFAIK)

I wouldn’t ever trust myself to make a bag for every day use, but I would like to try fusing plastic bags together to form a Tyvek-like material. I could easily use free Tyvek for all sorts of stuff.
