Love Wheels Nagoya – 2010 Bicycle Girls Calendar

Love Wheels Nagoya

We recently got a few calendars from Rie, the brains behind Love Wheels Nagoya. Inspired by the wave of calendars from overseas, the ladies of Nagoya decided to show the world they too could be seen as strong, sexy and very serious about cycling. They’re in-fact proud that they’re not supermodels, nor are their bikes museum-quality. They’re real women from an industrial city in Japan (Toyota is headquartered in Nagoya) who prefer, “bike riding with our own legs rather than being in the passenger seat of our boyfriend’s car.”

The calendar is $20, which includes shipping. To order, check out crankeeblog.blogspot.com.

  • Why can’t women just ride bikes like anybody else? Why do we also have to be moving sex objects? I feel like I never see blog posts just about women doing their thing, it’s always about how hot we look on a bike. Frustrating! I get enough crap from guys on the street as I ride by, do we really need to perpetuate it within the cycling community itself too?

  • If you don’t like it then why don’t you personally write and complain to each and every one of these ladies who seem to have happily and proudly posed for the calendar.

  • When we do our thing (being on a bike), both men and women look HOTT. It’s the nature of the beast…bikes are instant sexy-makers.

Bravo to the ladies from Nagoya!

  • Emma… (sigh)

Now every dude reading this blog knows:
    - you’re no fun
    - you don’t have a waist as lithe as the girl on the right
    - you aren’t as pretty as any of them

Young women are sex objects, and men are status objects, and you can thank our primate nature for that. You can play with it earnestly, or ironically, but that’s what we are.

    Suck it up!

  • Jamesmallon… (sigh)

Now every chick reading this blog knows:
-you’re prone to bouts of patronizing sexism
-which is kind of a drag
-who the fuck wants that in a guy?

“Men are status objects.” You go on telling yourself that. Hahaha.

  • Men and women, both, are sexy when they’re on a bike. I’d buy a calendar of hot dudes riding bikes just as quickly as a calendar with hot chicks (although swimming apparel looks a lot hotter on women than men). But I think my taste in men is a lot different than most women.

  • San, I like smart women, I also like hot women, and I love it when someone is both. I don’t need Emmas being killjoys, or you talking like a tool in Women’s Studies 101.

    Go ride your bike.

  • Dude, you tried to shut her down by calling her ugly. Do you seriously think that’s a reasonable response?

  • Damn thats hot. I volunteer myself and my bike to make a guys version. I’ll even wear the leopard print! I can see it now, “Men of 808, a 2010 calendar” Who’s in?

  • Their bodies are objects.

  • @Wasabi…I live in the wrong area code, and no one in their right minds would want to see me in leopard ANYTHING, but I’m game nevertheless.

  • shweet. forget the area codes, lets have it called “Fixed Men: a 2010 calender” HAHAHA

  • Actually I would rather love some REAL fixie girl riders or bike messengers.. not models.. :P

  • Getting lots of positive response about the calendar. The girls all enjoyed working on it. Still plenty of inventory left. Visit my store to place an order. Will ship anywhere.

  • @Wasabi
In Brasil, we did our calendar too. Both men and women version…
We are gonna release it very soon…

  • I think that even straight women enjoy looking at images of pretty women over handsome me…

look at any glossy magazine that is published for the female audience

    I like photographing cyclist

people with character and interesting bikes are my favorite subjects

and a pretty girl is far more interesting to photograph than some dude on his commuter bike

  • True. In fact, one of the calendars that Rie sent us was claimed by a straight woman.

  • @Crankee Why is there no JCB credit card option? I’m in Japan, and that’s the only card I’ve got.

  • Yo, louis88
Those ARE real fixie girls. Did you notice how it says what they all do for a living and the girls that teach pastry are dressed like a teacher and a pastry chef? And how the unemployed girl is just chillin’, doing laundry? And how except for that last girl, they all have jobs that aren’t modeling….Weird, it’s kinda like the only thing that they have in

  • Weird, it’s like the only thing that they have in common is that they ride bikes….
