I love the idea and would like something like it that would work during the day!

My only worry is that *wherever* the cyclist is becomes a bike lane, including down the yellow line. Not all of *us* obey the rules either...

I like it. Will it work if you have a rack on the back of your bike, or will that block the beams? Where do I get One?

If it's only a few feet in front and at the back of the rider, I don't think it will be mistaken for a parking lane. I like it.

Interesting, but I would be worried about delivery trucks trying to park in front of me while riding.

Technically imaginative, but potentially very harmful. This "virtual bike lane" would imply that there is a full car lane to the left (or right) of the cyclist. A car trying to maneuver with a good understanding of bike lanes could create a very dangerous situation with traffic either oncoming or in the same direction. Also it would look completely incomprehensible with riders 2 abreast or one rider passing another.
