Lemolo Bags Prototype Hip Pouch

lemolo bags hip packI recently traded Eli from Lemolo for one of his hip pouches. I had been thinking of getting one because there are those times where all I need is my lock and a few essential items. Carrying a full backpack or messenger bag would be inconvenient, or excessive at best. Still, when you’re a bike it’s nice to keep your stuff in something that’s secure and weather resistant. Enter the venerable hip pouch.

lemolo_pack_02Lemolo’s standard issue hip pouch (dubbed the HIPstr) is 8” wide and 7” tall. It comes with a 2″ web belt and features an intergrated U-lock holder. The shell is made from 1000 denier Cordura, and the inside uses 18oz vinyl coated polyester. There’s one interior divider to keep things simple yet organized.

  • my biggest issue with all of these belts that use a 2″ strap is that the strap eventually wears down and bunches into a little cord after some use. companies need to make a strap that won’t destroy itself, or weight the bags so when you do end up putting it on your pants belt, it doesn’t tip over on your belt when you have a u-lock in it.

Fabric Horse had a good idea with the half belt where the belt was integrated but it doesn’t allow for much personal preference when it comes to pouch placement.

  • cool looking bag , i have had some thoughts of designs for these hip bags but will keep those quiet ! Anyway good looking bag and functional, plus on the detail, kudos for rocking the old skool ipod !!

  • How did you like the way the hip-pack fit sans u-lock? I bought a ReLoad hip-pack a few years ago, and my biggest complaint is that it hung loosely on my hip when the holster was empty. It might have had partly to do with the placement of the holster on the bag itself – it was kind of centered, making it easy for the bag to flop downward. This hip-pack has a similar design, but it looks like the holster might be placed towards the top?

  • next hipster fad is going to be finding old fanny packs from the 80s.

  • The hipster’s could check my basement storage boxes. I bet I have a dozen fanny packs! They were pretty useful though.

  • Are you kidding..I know plenty of hipsters riding around with shitty zippered fanny bags from the 80′z. Especially the neon, they love the attention. Let’s keep it real though, if it is made well like the Lemolo or ReLoad bags…people will buy. Made to last is the biggest concern. Norman Porter Company out of Allentown,PA makes a solid bag too.

  • I’ll be honest I’d love a smaller bag to take with me but I’ll be damned if I’m going to wear some old Bugle Boy fanny pack on my daily ride. I’d love to see these hit production. Even if it doesn’t this doesn’t seem like to difficult a design to make on my own.
