We like diy stuff, we like freak bikes, and we just keep linking to Instructables for our share of both. A reader of ours wrote in to let us know about this one, which he dubs a seriously comfortable bike saddle. The inspiration? Participation in the London World Naked Bike Ride and a statement about his current cycling participation from the arm chair and not on the track or as a courier like in his youth. It looks like the ultimate recumbent. Now all you need is the beer and remote control.

Wow. I expected to see some sort of wobbly fall over, but the machine seemed to ride very well.

Thanks for comments. It rides OK, but we built it without a jig – fools! It runs about and inch and half out of true, so handling could be much better. Whatever, it scores huge in attracting females. Out on the street I am beset by unattached swooning womenfolk who … want one. It is really really comfy and has real street presence. Just sat in town looking up at some goofball in his RangeRover and knowing Ive got a bigger leather seat AND I get more admiring looks. V funny. My biggest problem is space – I’ve got no room for it.
