Knog has a pretty extensive collection of leather gloves, but I dare say none are as striking as these red and white Love Hate fingerless gloves. The love/hate motif was likely inspired by the character Radio Raheem’s brass knuckles in the film Do The Right Thing.
Handstitched from goatskin leather, they feature double stitching at stress points, perforated leather for cooling and plenty of padding in the palm. Being that they’re fingerless, ventilated and made from a naturally breathable material, they’re not ridiculously hot in the summertime. And when your hands start sweating, they’ll definitely help you keep a solid grip on your handlebar. Where they really pay off, though, is when your palms hit the pavement.
On the negative side, the gloves seem to run a full size too small. I tried on the gray and white pair of mediums that came in, and I nearly had to use a scissors to get them off. The large gloves seem to fit fine, though I hardly have “large” hands.
One thing that keeps me from wearing these gloves more often is that the red dye stains my hands every time I put them on. Even if I only wear them for a few minutes, I’m left with bright red marks on my hands. It intensifies if I sweat a lot, and the day I rode 10 miles in the rain caused them to bleed so badly some of the white leather got stained pink.
The Love Hate gloves are available in sizes S-XXL and retail for $55. Visit www.knog.com.au for more info.

The Radio Raheem bit is an homage to “Night of the Hunter”:

I assume that a lot of people don’t know what “Night of the Hunter” is.

If you know your stuff, you know it’s the Mitchum movie.
I will no longer support knog after their risque’ ad campaigns.

bicycle union has had love/hate gloves out for a while now.
If they’re anything like mine, thay’ll stretch quite a bit in use – I wear “M” and though they were too small, ’til after a week…
