KMC Kool Knight Chain

KMC is the largest chain manufacturer in the world—no matter the make of the chain on your bike you most likely have encountered some piece of machinery in the past day or so with a KMC chain making it work. New for this year is the Kool Knight chain, a 1/8″ chain for BMX and fixed freestyle riding that utilizes a half link design and directional “L” shaped links that when installed completely cover and encase the chainring and cog for protection during grinds and crashes, saving your chainring teeth that would otherwise end up bent or dinged. Even with the unique design the chain can be shortened using a standard chain tool, meaning that any shop or home mechanic can make use of it if they so choose without further tool purchases. The Kool Knight will be priced at about $45 when it becomes available in fall 2011.

DK must not have patented their original version heavily enough. Looks like KMC is taking credit, too, as Cool Knight won a German iF Design award. I think DK’s finishes still look better though…
