JVC Adixxion Action Camera

You know sports headcams are serious business when large electronics manufacturers are getting into the game. The JVC Adixxion is a serious step up from most of what I’ve seen of headcams judging on spec and the in-hand feel. While many of the cameras on the market feel similar to the electronic toys I grew up with in the ’80s, the Adixxion feels more like the cameras I’m used to today, a tool for a job. It is waterproof to 5 m (with a serious underwater housing available), drop-proof to 2 m, dust proof and freeze proof and only weighs in at 130 g. It features a standard tripod mount on both the bottom and side of the device, and has a 1.5″ LCD screen for reviewing footage. The camera uses SDHC storage cards for more or less unlimited storage, has a removeable battery for your power needs, and an external mic for ambient sound recording. Resolution wise it has 1920 x 1080 at 30 fps and 1280 x 720 at 60 fps. The camera also features built in WiFi to frame your image on your phone or computer before you record or even life-stream directly if a high speed connection is available. Mounts for all occassions are available or easily hacked given the tripod mounts, with inexpensive interchangable lens protectors available for people using the camera in dirty conditions. Available for $350, see more at www.beactionready.com
