Globe Roll 8

When Specialized relaunched the Globe brand a couple of years back they introduced the single speed Roll model with flat bars and more road than track geometry for riders looking for understated style and predictable handling. Just last year they brought out the $770 Globe Roll 8, featuring the same styling and geometry but with an 8-speed rear cassette and a single front ring—a setup common to many seasoned urban commuter’s personal bikes. With a wide range 11-32 cassette and a 48t front ring the bike has enough gear range for most urban locales while keeping it realtively simple in terms of form and function. The pictured bike isn’t exactly stock though pretty close to it, as it’s actually the well used personal bike of one of the product designers behind the Globe line, sporting some upgrades and after market parts choices like most of these bikes will look after a year or two on the road.

Nice bike. Don’t understand the goofy head tube badge though.

I ordered this bike and got it about a week ago. Great bike although I may change the bars.

No longer a fan of this Company no matter how they “market” their bikes.Simply put, a typical corporate entity with typical corporate practices. No better than walmart.

Comparing Globe bikes to Walmart? Really??? How in the world does that add up?

Comparing any bicycle company to a company like Walmart seems like an ignorant statement for too many reasons to list.

I bought a Globe back in 2009, still love it. Bought it mainly for commuting to work and has been instrumental in aiding my dad after having a stroke last year. I have probably closing in on 2K miles on it and have had no troubles. I have the Vienna Deluxe 1.

Re: head tube badge, it comes stock with a paper company graphic, but one could easily replace it with an image of their choice. Kind of a neat way to personalize it.
