According to Bicycle Retailer:
Giant Bicycle has donated 1,000 units of a special “Emergency Edition” hardtail mountain-bike specifically designed to assist emergency crews involved with the recent Japan earthquake disaster.
These unique bikes will be used by local emergency organizations and volunteers to navigate rough terrain and damaged roadways that are no longer accessible by vehicles.
Put “tsunami bicycle” into Google images and you’ll get several pix of bikes cruising through amazing destruction while cars are dead in the water, blockaded or out of gas. Giant gets a big plus in my book.
