The sad photos in this post show a ghost bike homage and demonstration in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, over the running-down of 40 year-old prominent bike-activist Marcia Prado. The accident heated the long claim of the city’s bikers for more space and respect in the streets.

  • a tragedy all the more poignant to me personally given i just turned 40 this month. attn. editor: ‘fatally killed’ is redundant, as there is no other way to be killed than fatally (unless by ‘fatally’ you meant to imply an intervention of Fate in the incident, which would mean the cyclist was not killed by the driver, but rather by Fate itself). you may consider using ‘fatally injured’ or ‘fatally impacted’ in the future, or else simply using ‘killed’.

  • damn shame. looks like they’ve got a hell of a movement down there though, good to see so many riders coming together in support.
