Geared Up For My Commute

We’ve been having an unseasonably warm winter here in Pittsburgh. Today felt like early Spring, but it’s still not “shorts and a t-shirt weather” so I was still pretty geared up for my commute. And it didn’t escape the attention of my coworkers when I walked into the building (no doubt because of my bright red soft shell).

The short list of my attire: Chrome Kursk Pro shoes, wool crew socks and Stock Cobra hoodie; Pearl Izumi Select Barrier WXB jacket; Hypnotic Hankster knickers; Salsa wool knee warmers; DeFeet wool gloves; Julbo sunglasses; Bern Brentwood helmet. I rode my Salsa La Cruz, and on my back I had the Timbuk2 Especial Tres rolltop backpack.

What did you wear/use on your commute today?

Santa Cruz is feeling warmer than summer. Where’s our rain!?!?! We need it!!!

Short sleeve sugoi merino shirt, denim shorts, chrome shoes, cbc racing socks by sockguy, sugoi knee warmers, cycling cap. still overheated on the climb.

Had an endura helium jacket and a icebreakers longsleeve merino in the bag just in case the much needed rain might come, and some Gform pads for polo after work.

    Another day in paradise…

Are you going to be doing a review of the Especial Tres? I’m having a hard time finding reviews…

The only real seasonal gear I had on was my Showers Pass Portland jacket for my Pittsburgh commute.

I’d wear the rest year round… just cheap mossimo Jeans & a cxhairs t-shirt, some smartwool low cut socks, a cheap pair of safety glasses to kill the wind (while riding after dark), and a few miscellaneous flashing lights for safety.

Pearl Izumi tights under jeans with a hole in the knee. Lycra arm warmers beneath an Under Armour hoodie and t-shirt. Cotton gloves and beanie. That’s it!

Seriously mild here, but with a BRUTAL headwind this morning. The nice weather has to be brought in somehow!

In Denver it’s been a mild but snowy winter. Clothes make the commute.

    Normal gear:
    waterproof low hiking shoes
    Wool Hiking Socks
    Cutter Tech Knickerbockers
    Thin wicking baselayer
    Gore Bike Wear Phantom Jacket
    Louis Garneau Milano Gloves
    Smartwool Headband

If it gets too snowy, add in gaitors and maybe full pants. If it’s below 10, wool hat and a merino wool hoodie. :)

My typical commuter clothes consists of any t-shirt I grab in the morning, a shorts from reffing soccer, crew length cotton socks, Vans slip-ons and a Nutcase helmet. I’ll add a thin jacket and Buff head wear when the temperature drops near the low 40′s.

I use to wear a pair of safety glasses, but now that I’ve reached that age, I’ve switched to my prescription glasses only.

I’ve rack mounted my carry-ons and when I’m bring my laptop, I carry it in a backpack.
