Garrett Chow All Chips On The Table Rapha Art Show

Like many, I first came to know of Garrett Chow through his involvement in MASH, and have since run into him at tradeshows and other events where he has been serving in his capacity as Lead Graphic Designer at Specialized Bikes. A talented rider and graphic designer Garrett is also an all around nice guy — I was excited that a recent San Francisco trip coincided with the opening night of his All Chips On The Table art show at the Rapha San Francisco location. The loft area of the store is more or less adorned with Garrett’s office walls, showing inspiration and sketches along with finished pieces and other ephemera. Hand finished Specialized bikes are the centerpieces of the show, meticulously painted and matched down to every last detail. The bike painted to match the finite element analysis rendering of pedaling forces is beautifully simple, and especially appealing to my inner nerd. The show only runs through the end of November and worth seeing in person if possible, so don’t drag your feet much longer if you’re in the area. For more information check out an interview with Garrett at Core77.

From the Core77 interview: “I spent many years living and working as a (street) artist with a group of friends, calling ourselves The London Police and (un)ironically, pursuing our craft on the street under cover of night. We traveled the world painting on the street and working on gallery, museum and retail installations and commissions. This was a hugely influential period that colored the way I see the world and informed my approach to design today.”
