Fyxation Session 700 Tires and BMX Grips

Fyxation is a relatively new company who’s had enough time to ride around the block a few times and get their products squared away. Their main focus is on tires, specifically colored tires to compliment or match your bike.

Yet while fashion is certainly a core component of the Fyxation brand, function is equally important. That’s why they’ve made certain changes to their successful line, namely the addition of dual-compound tires, which is what I’ve been riding.

All of Fyxation’s tires are 700×28, with a 120tpi casing, Kevlar flat protection and pinch-flat-resistant sidewalls. The tread is inspired by freestyle BMX tires, and features a wraparound diamond tread. And of course being that these are high-end urban tires, they have a folding Kevlar bead. I honestly haven’t gone to the trouble of measuring, but these have to be the fattest 28′s I’ve ever seen.

I put the Session 700′s on my commuter bike—a 10-speed cross bike with flat bars that I tend to ride like a mountain bike. So obviously I’m not skidding through these tires, but I’m certainly putting them to good use. In addition to riding through plenty of flat-hazards, I’ve been hopping plenty of curbs and riding off-road whenever I feel like it. The Session 700′s have just enough tread to inspire a little more confidence without feeling like they’re slowing me down at all. And after months of use, I hardly see any significant signs of wear. But as I said, I’m not skidding on them. If you want a review from a fixed-freestyle perspective, check out Prolly’s write up.

The BMX grips feature the same diamond tread pattern as the tires, but they use a softer rubber for control and comfort. They’re plenty wide enough for the biggest man-hands, and even though the rubber is softer than the tires, the grips have yet to show any signs of wear at all.

The Session 700 tires retail for $49.95 each and are available in the following colors: solid black, white, orange, green and pink; dual compound white/black, green/black, orange/black, and pink/black; black with whitewall and brown with whitewall. The grips retail for $12.95 and are available in black, white, orange, green and pink. Visit www.fyxation.com for more info.

  • Yes the are the fattest 28s the fit like a 700×32

  • cool, i really like the ride of fyxation tires, have one as a front tire.

the wrap around tread is a nice touch. they are a bit pricey tho. and yes, they definitely fit more like 700x28s.

  • side note: sort of wish they made more colors, or colors that arn’t super “urban” or “tarck”….like red, or maroon, or yellow, blue, etc.

  • EDIT: (lol sorry i dont know how to edit my first post)
when i said “they definitely fit more like 700x28s” i totally meant “…fit more like 700x32s”

oh, and i think they should make some GUM wall fyxations too!

  • i would not recomend with Deep V wheels. EXTREMELY tight bead.

  • FYXATION!!! These tires are a great find!!!

  • I love these tires, but I have had continuous problems with these tires on Deep Vs. I keep popping tubes with the Deep V/Fyxation combo. I have found that if I keep the psi around 80 it seems to be fine. More than that is an issue.

  • I do not recommend these with deep V’d wheels of any kind. I’m out a lot of bills because they didn’t work on my rim, the wide bead allowed the tire to shift and rip the valve stem. Deflated with ripped valves every time. (5 times total.) If you have standard rims these are fine. I’m saving them incase my touring bike needs new tires, cause I can’t return them. :(
