The reported getaway vehicle was a grey 1980s Ford or Dodge family van. There’s a bike thief with a grey/white van in this video that fits the description, and it looks like it has CA tags. If this attempted theft happened in California, please call investigators handling the Oakland case at (510) 238-3326.

Several days later I saw the thief riding my bike and I followed him home. When I confronted the guy, he behaved the thief asshole on the video.

I was sooo danm angry I backed away and called the cops.

Now Ladies and Gents, I will give you three simple advice.
1. If you have a bike ‘today’… Please take a few minutes and take picture of the bicycle and Serial numbers.

2. Save/upload it to facebook, photobucket, google, icloud, or whatever. Just save it.

3. If your bike ever gets stolen, REPORT IT TO THE POLICE! You wont get it back, they wont look for it, BUT they will have a report/record of it.
This was important, because it was my word against the thief. When I gave the police my statement, they looked me up on their computers, verified the serial number and gave me my bike.
