Do The Test

“This is an awareness test.” Do The Test.

This public awareness spot is from Transport for London as part of their freshly introduced cycle safety campaign aimed at reducing the number of cyclists hurt on London’s roads. Effective use of the concept of inattentional blindness to illustrate the point - cyclists are easy to miss, watch out.

I failed. What a wake up.

I got thirteen, but totally missed the bear! Brilliant!

    So we’re all moonwalking bears…

Of course we all failed it. We were asked to observe a specific action and count it. We’d have also failed if we had been asked to look for a moonwalking bear and then were asked something specific about the people with the basketballs.

In my opinion, the “test” is meaningless. It’s akin to car drivers being told to keep an eye on their speedometer, then being surprised when they have an accident. Driving a car/truck/van/whatever responsibly means being alert and aware of what’s going on at all times, and not being distracted by irrelevant information (the number of passes the white team is making).

have yet to find someone who sees the bear. sad as hell.

I saw it, but that’s because I was aware of the University of Illinois video that the Brits took the idea from.

    that spot is fantastic

    I really dig it

    but honestly
I do not mind being the moon walking bear

I thought I was spectacular when I got the number of passes correct. The placement of an “invisible” Moonwalking Bear to illustrate a point… Genius
