xjPSK3PPdt5mmRHKCV8U2wB3GcUqQ73vBN7Y7rJQI_wBlinkerGrips is a Swiss creation to add overall visibility and the ability to signal turns to other vehicles with a simple grip swap. With the press of a thumb operated button on the ergonomic grip one can turn the signal on to indicate a turn along with the usual hand signs. With a pair of AAA batteries powering each, the BlinkerGrips claim some 2500 turn signals. If you prefer an always-on indicator light the ever-light edition includes rechargeable batteries and even has a connection for Dynamo power should you be so inclined to power them as you pedal. They’re weatherproof, and reportendly impact resistant though I always question how long anything mounted to the end of the bars is going to last given the frequency that parked bikes are knocked over or otherwise dropped. The lock-on style grips are compatible with most trigger shifter and brake lever combinations and are available for roughly $60 per pair.

I created a similar design based around Ergon grips a little over a year ago:

You covered Eurobike 2012 and once I saw this picture:

I assumed they were prototyping a turn signal system as well…

The BlinkerGrips remind me when I tried to make acrylic molds just like these by both shaping acrylic blocks and creating a clay model then casting clear resin in a silicon mold. When I did not get it the way I wanted, I figured that impact would really be an issue like you mentioned, so that’s why I have my current design.

    Thanks for posting this.

It seems that it actually is impact proof based on this video.
